Nonprofit websites carry a unique burden. They have to earn trust instantly, communicate mission clearly, and make it as easy as possible for visitors to take action — whether that's donating, registering for an event, or finding support after a stroke. When the Kentuckiana Stroke Association came to us, their existing site wasn't doing any of those things as well as it could.
The Challenge
The original strokekyin.org had served its purpose but was showing its age. The design felt dated, the donation experience was fragmented, and the site wasn't optimized for the people who needed it most — stroke survivors and their families searching for local support resources. The organization also hosts fundraising events throughout the year and needed a ticketing solution that wouldn't eat into their donations with processing fees.
The Redesign
We rebuilt the site from the ground up with a clean, accessible design focused on clarity and action. The color palette and typography were updated to feel modern while staying approachable and warm - important for an audience that may be navigating a difficult time. The information architecture was restructured so that survivors, caregivers, and donors can each find what they need within seconds of landing on the page.
Key design decisions included a clear dual call-to-action in the hero — Find Support and View Events - so no visitor has to hunt for their next step. The Hope. Connection. Support. brand statement anchors the emotional core of the organization's mission throughout the page.
Zeffy Integration
The biggest functional upgrade was replacing the existing donation and ticketing setup with Zeffy. For nonprofits, Zeffy is a game changer - it's a fully fee-free fundraising platform, meaning 100% of every donation goes directly to the organization rather than being skimmed by payment processing fees. For an organization like the Kentuckiana Stroke Association that runs on community generosity, that difference adds up significantly over the course of a year.
We integrated Zeffy directly into the site for both one-time and recurring donations, as well as event ticket sales. The result is a seamless experience for donors that keeps them on-brand throughout the giving process.
The Result
The new strokekyin.org is faster, cleaner, and built to serve the organization's mission rather than just represent it. Stroke survivors searching for local resources get a site that feels trustworthy and easy to navigate. Donors get a frictionless giving experience where their full contribution reaches the cause. And the Kentuckiana Stroke Association gets a digital presence that reflects the quality of the work they do every day.
If you're a nonprofit looking to modernize your web presence and maximize your fundraising effectiveness, we'd love to talk.

Morgan took the time to understand our mission, not just our website. The result was a platform that makes it easier for survivors to find us and for donors to support us.
