Most software projects start with a problem. This one started with a gap in an entire industry.
Apparel decorators and promotional product shops are in the business of putting brands on physical things. They print shirts, hats, bags, and branded merchandise at scale. But when NFC smart cards started gaining traction as a premium add-on product, there was no clean way for a print shop to actually sell them. The existing NFC platforms were built for end users, not for the print professionals who would be manufacturing and reselling them. The workflow was broken before it started.
My Custom Tap Card was built to fix that.
What We Built
This project was one of the most technically complex engagements Rocket Web Studio has taken on - not a website with a contact form, but a full two-sided SaaS platform with multiple distinct user types, a payment infrastructure layer, and a physical product fulfillment component woven throughout.
At a high level the platform has three interconnected pieces: a white-label partner system for print shops, an artwork and order management workflow, and an end-user digital profile that lives on the NFC card itself.
The Partner System
Print shops sign up as partners and get their own branded dashboard. Each partner receives a unique white-label onboarding link they can send directly to their clients. When a client clicks that link they land on a co-branded experience - the partner's logo and colors, not ours. The partner is the product. My Custom Tap Card is the invisible engine underneath.
Partner accounts are structured with wholesale pricing tiers and full order visibility. They can see every client order, every artwork submission, and every approval status from a single dashboard without touching individual client communications.
The Artwork and Order Workflow
This is where the platform saves print shops the most time. Traditionally, getting artwork approved for a custom product involves a back-and-forth email chain that can stretch across days. We eliminated that entirely.
When a partner shares their onboarding link, the end client uploads their own artwork, builds their digital profile, and submits everything in a single session. The partner receives a notification, reviews the final art in the dashboard, clicks approve, and the order moves to fulfillment. Printing, encoding, and white-label shipping are handled automatically from that point forward.
Stripe Connect Architecture
Payments on the platform run through Stripe Connect, which routes transactions correctly across the multi-party structure. Partners can collect payment from their clients while the platform handles the underlying fulfillment costs - all without requiring manual invoicing or payment reconciliation between parties. Each printer account is a connected Stripe account, which means payouts, refunds, and fee splits all happen programmatically.
The End-User NFC Profile
Once a card is printed and shipped, the end user activates their digital profile - a fully editable link-tree style page that lives at the tap destination of their NFC card. They can update their phone number, social links, portfolio, or contact information at any time without ever reprinting the card. The profile editor works on any device and requires no app download on either end.
The Marketing Site
Alongside the application we built the public-facing marketing site at mycustomtapcard.com in Framer. The site is targeted squarely at print professionals and promotional product distributors - the "Become a Partner" call to action is front and center throughout. The messaging focuses on the white-label angle and the workflow efficiency rather than the technology itself, because print shop owners care about adding a revenue stream cleanly, not about how NFC encoding works.
The Result
My Custom Tap Card gives print professionals a product they can sell tomorrow without building any technology themselves. The platform handles onboarding, artwork collection, approval, fulfillment, and ongoing profile management - all under their brand. Partners add a high-margin smart product to their catalog overnight and their clients get a premium experience that looks and feels custom from start to finish.
This is what custom software is supposed to do - remove the operational friction between a good idea and a scalable business.
If you have a platform idea that needs to be built from scratch, we'd love to hear about it.

We had an idea that required a lot of moving parts; partner accounts, artwork approvals, payments, the digital profiles. Rocket Web Studio figured out how to make all of it work together seamlessly. Our print partners love how simple it is on their end, and that's exactly what we needed.
